Busy month

It seems like I am always starting my post with "well, it's been a busy month...". I can't remember the last time we didn't have a busy month. I still can't believe that it's almost December and this year is practically over. Let me recap what went on in 2007-2008:

Feb '07 - 2nd ER visit for unknown cause of extreme abdominal pain
Mar '07 - Chris' grandfather dies and he flies out to Florida
May '07 - I have laparoscopy which discovers Stage IV endometriosis, 2 weeks later take a business trip to Europe
Jun '07 - We buy our first house, my youngest sis moves to MD to live with us again and go to UMD
Jul '07 - week-long stressful business trip to Pittsburgh with 14 hour days (and longer)
Aug '07 - Chris' father dies and we fly to New Mexico for almost 2 weeks, renting a truck and driving back to MD with some of his father's things - stopping overnight in Missouri on the way back at my older sis'. My younger brother and sister come to visit for a weekend
Sep '07 - Chris' brother gets married and we fly back to New Mexico for a week, my older sis, her husband and nephew come to visit
Nov '07 - Chris is out of town for two weeks (over our anniversary and back in time for Thanksgiving), I start acupuncture for pain-relief and stress control, sis moves out and into dorms
Dec '07 - Chris' mom comes out to MD for Christmas and we take a week off
Feb '08 - We take a well-deserved week at the time-share in Maine, my pain starts again and I start working from home for two hours of my 8 hour workday
Apr '08 - After a brief cancer scare, I have a second lap - this time they remove one of my ovaries and tube as well as all the endo that returned/got worse. Katie and David come to take care of me for a week, Mom picks up where they left off for another week.
May '08 - My good friend, her husband and three kids all come to stay with us while her husband (who had just gotten out of the Army) looked for a job. I start taking yoga clases twice a week
July '08 - 1 week business trip to San Jose. Same as last year, except warm, sunny and enjoyable! We stop in N.M. for the weekend on the way home to see mom-in-law's new house. We hire a new person at work - Yay!
No more tele-commuting for me. Boo!
Aug '08 - friends move out of our house and to her parents so the kids can start school
Sep '08 - switched acupunturist
Oct '08 - moved to a new office at work - working 10 hours days, found out our chimney is unsafe, drop a grand on repairs
Nov '08 - start a new savings account, commit to making lunches and bringing them in everday

Okay, that was long. And probably boring for everyone. But, I think writing it all out that way helped me realize that we had WAY too much going on in the last 2 years. Even without any illness to deal with, that is a lot of stress coming at us from every angle. I want a more simple life. I crave serenity, a solution to this chaos. We've talked about it a lot lately, and after the New Year I think I will start looking for a part-time job. Chris will have to make more to pick up the difference, but he is confident he can do that next year. His time is supposed to be spent on sales, and instead is spent on doing other projects at work. Those were things he couldn't control this year, but he has already sat down with our boss and is working out a new plan to get him out of the office more.
I don't just want any part-time job though. I want something that gets me out of an office and away from a computer! I hate spending all day staring at a screen. I've NEVER enjoyed spreadsheets, any type of accounting, and staying on the phone all day. The only part of my job I enjoy is talking to our customers. Hopefully, a part-time job will also offer me some flexibility for the one, sometimes two days a week when the endo kicks in and I can't get off the couch. I'd love something to do with plants, as I'd love to learn more about them. I don't think it's too lucrative, and I don't have any experience so I don't know how practical that is. If anyone has any ideas for me, now would be a good time to share :).
