It always happens this way

As soon as you find yourself with some extra cash, it seems like expenses start popping out of the woodwork. Chris had been spending so much time coordinating the move to the new office, setting up our new space and all the networks, coordinating with contractors, etc. that he hadn't gotten any sales time in several months. So he was rewarded with a bonus to make up for that lost time. Literally, the next day (before the cash even hit the bank) we found out our car was due for a $700 maintenance appointment, our chimney was in need of serious repair (~$1K) in order to not burn down the house when we run the pellet stove this winter, and our water softener is dying quickly (~$500). So, after taxes (biggest ouch of all) and all of these expenses, there isn't much left over. So sad :(. But at least we didn't have to dip into our savings to cover those things, so that's an upside definitely.
