getting closer
1.12.2011
My list is getting longer, not shorter!
We had three things left to accomplish when I last posted:
-Chris' health report from his doctor (he had the appt already)
-health department inspection
-fire department inspection
Since then, I've actually had to ADD two things to it:
-Get child protective services report from the Army
-Get driving records from Louisiana (they need records from the last 5 years - we've been in MD for 4 years, and held Louisiana licenses before that, even though we lived in Korea)
Luckily, I was able to scan in the signed forms and email it to the Army office last night. I got an email from them this morning that the report was already on the way to the adoption agency. Talk about efficient! That must be a new thing - I don't remember that aspect of the Army, haha.
I also mailed in the driving records request to the Office of Motor Vehicles in Baton Rouge. That should take about a week to get back.
Oh, and we finally have our fire inspection scheduled for next Thursday!
So really...the only thing left to schedule is the health inspection. I'm crossing my fingers we hear from them soon. If things drag out any longer, we're going to have some serious issues with timing.

Sorry to bore everyone with all of this. I know it's not super interesting, but I like to write it all out, just to keep track.
And now, on to something quite a few of you are interested in...
I just found out that we may NOT be able to find out the sex of the baby before he/she comes into this world! I'm a little disappointed, but lord knows we've had to be patient for this long, surely we can wait a little longer....right?
Sigh.
I always imagined that when we got pregnant, I would wait 'til the baby popped out to find out the sex. You know, the joy of the surprise, and all that. But the longer we waited to become pregnant, the less I liked the idea of waiting any longer to find out. I mean, really, it's a surprise whether you find out now or later, right? Now it's actually driving me a little crazy that we don't know yet!
It's really not that big of a deal. We'll be ecstatic no matter if it's a boy or a girl, and this just means we have to come up with two sets of names! You'd think after this many years, we'd have a million options ready and waiting, but now that parenthood is imminent we're getting stuck. The prospect of naming an actual baby has been something we dreamed about, and now that we are going to get the opportunity...well, it's a lot harder than I thought it would be.
We may not get too many other opportunities. Gotta get it right the first time :).

It always bothers me how unresponsive the state departments are... we deal with that all of the time with commercial projects. Like they have all the time in the world to get around to you.
That is such a short list though!!! So exciting... not too much longer!
Awww... I suppose we all can be patient a little longer as well until finding out the sex of the baby. It's really only about 3 months right? That's going to fly by :)
I believe you will definitely be going through the naming process again sometime down the road and I can't wait to meet my new nephew/ neice :)!
oops... just read again and realized you said LONGER list :( keep chugging... think of how much longer it would be if you hadn't already checked off everything you have.
