embracing fall

I love fall, but I don't love the end of summer. And I don't love knowing that winter is just around the corner. Fall is a lovely season - the crisp air is refreshing, the turning leaves are beautiful, and the food is so yummy (butternut squash soup, baked ham, apple cider, pumpkin pie!) - but in Maryland it seems like some years we skip it altogether and head straight into winter. I'm hoping this year we actually get more than a couple weeks of nice weather before the cold and the snow sets in.

Anyhoo, I decided to make a fall wreath to decorate the front door. We're still showing the house, and I thought it might make a nice first impression for any potential buyers. I didn't like any of the pre-made wreaths in the stores, so I made a trip to Michael's for a grapevine wreath, some flowers, and a garland of berries and pumpkins and....VOILA!

Aawww fall. I really miss fireside chats. You guys should have hot buttered rum at the next one.
It's going to snow again here soon.
