Happy Birthday Rachel!

Rachel turned 22 on Saturday! Chris made her this lovely t-shirt - he picked out the tank top, bought some iron-on letters, and found a silly glittery decal. I guess he wanted it to say BRFDAY GRRRRL, but there weren't enough R's in the package :). She loved it and wore it to her party that night.

We decided to bake her a birthday cake this year - my first attempt at a 3-layer cake, in fact. We baked it on Friday, and frosted and decorated it on Saturday.

Pre-frosting:

Look how tall it is!

Proud of her creation:

"In Soviet Russia, Cake Eats You!"

Modeling her gifts from Emily before the party:

Everyone singing Happy Birthday!

Blowing out her candles (she put 2 on there, for 22 I guess?):

Fun party!

Rachel's all tired out (this was around 3:45 am, so who can blame her...):

We didn't have the fire going outside because of the rain, but everyone found plenty to do inside. Rachel and her friends sang karoake (in Russian and English), played cards and pinball. Chris had a pinball tournament with boy's and girl's prizes. The girls prize was a neon green tank top with the words "Recycle Electronic Waste", and the boys prize was a Sea Monkey kit with a wristwatch aquarium. Fun stuff :).

Several of the girls slept over that night and I made blueberry waffles for everyone the next morning. Err...noon, really.

Overall, I think Rachel enjoyed her party. We all have some catching up to do, sleep-wise, but it was worth it!
